Concept Art #1

Each of the characters in Gest had to be designed at some point, right? Here's the first sketch I did for any of the characters in Gest, featuring an earlier version of Aesthyr. There were even earlier sketches, but this is the one that gave her the basic look she has today (including placement of horns, style of hair, shading, and eye shape).

Originally, Aesthyr was going to be a bit younger than she eventually became and so this character's face was given a more youthful shape. Well, as youthful as a 48 year old could be. Aesthyr is now a much more senior 56, and is therefore reflected to look a little older. In case you couldn't tell, Drakuuns age at a much slower rate than humans (about the equivalent of the aging of a dragon). So when you see older looking Drakuuns throughout the comic, that means that they are MUCH older Drakuuns.

It's natural I designed my own character first since I'm the artist, right? :P
